Superior Court of San Benito County Announces Launch of New Automated System for Jurors
Tim Newman
Court Executive Officer
Hollister—The Superior Court of San Benito County is pleased to announce the rollout a new jury management system, Enterprise Jury Management (EJM) — a modern, user-friendly system designed to improve the jury experience for San Benito County residents and strengthen the Court’s ability to efficiently manage juror participation.
The system introduces expanded self-service access, giving jurors more flexibility and convenience than ever before. With this new system, jurors will be able to:
- Interact directly with the Court by phone or through a secure online portal.
- Request postponements electronically without needing to visit the courthouse.
- Notify the Court about scheduling conflicts or availability quickly and easily.
- Receive timely text and email updates and reminders regarding reporting instructions and service status.
“We are excited to bring this new system to San Benito County,” said Court Executive Officer, Tim Newman. “This upgrade demonstrates the Court’s continued commitment to customer service, accessibility, and technological innovation. Jurors play a vital role in our justice system, and this system will ensure we support them with tools that are simple, efficient, and responsive to today’s needs.”
Just over 11,000 juror summonses were mailed to county residents last year with just under 8,000 people completing jury service. Because many cases are resolved before going to trial, most people complete their service without reporting to the courthouse. The Court encourages all residents who receive jury summonses, which now arrive in the mail as a postcard style notice, to explore the new features available through the new EJM system. Instructions for accessing the online portal or automated phone system will be included in all upcoming jury summonses along with other easy-to-follow instructions.
As with the rollout of any new system, community members who feel they received a jury notice incorrectly—whether because they previously served within the last 12 months or have another exemption on file—are encouraged to contact the court for assistance.
Visit the court’s website at www.sanbenito.courts.ca.gov for more information about jury service and/or to connect with a member of the court’s staff over jury service questions.
